World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)
The first three characters of the VIN, identifying where the vehicle was built and by whom.
Examples: WV* (Volkswagen, Germany), SAL (Land Rover, UK), 1HG (Honda, USA), VF1 (Renault, France). A WMI that does not match the badged manufacturer or stated country of origin is a red flag.
