We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage to make Expert Car Check work, to remember your preferences and to understand how the site is used in aggregate. This page explains each one in plain English.

Strictly necessary

• Session cookie — keeps you signed into a paid report while you read it. Expires when you close the browser.
• CSRF token — protects checkout from cross-site request forgery.

Preferences (local storage, not a cookie)

• ecc.ai-mechanic.v1 — your AI Mechanic chat history, stored only in your browser. Clear it from inside the chat panel at any time.
• ecc.reduce-motion — remembers if you turned animations off.

Analytics

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 records aggregate page views, approximate country, device type and referral source. We do not enable advertising personalisation or use this data to change vehicle results. Google may set measurement cookies such as _ga.

How to control cookies

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and local storage from its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break checkout; blocking analytics has no impact on what you can do on the site.
