About Expert Car Check

A used car can have history you cannot see during a viewing: an outstanding finance agreement, an insurance write-off, an inconsistent mileage record or a stolen marker. Expert Car Check brings available vehicle records together so you can ask better questions before you buy.

What we do

We combine available vehicle details and MOT history with the additional records included in your selected report. Finance, insurance write-off and stolen-marker coverage depends on the provider response. A missing record is not a clear result. Our data sources page explains these limitations.

Editorial standard

Public copy follows a plain-English editorial standard: source the claim, state the date and say when a record is unavailable. We use qualifying language such as “typically”, “where available” and “according to the record” when the evidence requires it. We don’t present an unavailable result as a clear record.

Who we’re for

Private buyers checking a car before handing over cash. Independent traders running provenance on stock. Insurers, fleets and finance brokers who need a quick, auditable view of a vehicle’s history. The AI Mechanic in the corner is there for everyone else — ask it about an MOT advisory, a write-off category or a common fault, and you’ll get a forensic answer in plain English.

How we make money

Expert Car Check offers four one-off report tiers: Free (Free), Silver (£1.99), Gold (£2.99), Platinum (£4.99). You pay once for the selected report; there is no recurring report subscription.

• No subscriptions. We never auto-renew or keep a card on file for recurring billing.
• No data resale. Your lookups and report contents are not sold, brokered or syndicated to third parties for marketing.
• No on-site advertising. No display ads, sponsored placements or pay-to-rank listings inside reports.
• Affiliate links are disclosed. Where we link to a third-party service (e.g. short-term insurance, finance settlement), any commercial relationship is labelled on the link and on the destination page.
• Card processing. When paid checkout is available, the payment form names the processor handling your card details. Expert Car Check does not receive or store your full card number.

Expert Car Check is a trading name of AUTO DIGITAL LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17417399. Registered office: 1 Dudley Court North, Level Street, Brierley Hill, England, DY5 1XP. A VAT number will be shown here if and when VAT registration applies.

Data protection & ICO

We handle personal data (your email, payment metadata and the vehicle registrations you look up) under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our lawful bases are contract (to deliver the report you paid for) and legitimate interest (to prevent fraud and improve the service). Full detail is in the privacy notice.

Where ICO registration is required for our processing activities, our ICO registration number will be listed here and in the privacy notice. If it is not yet listed, registration is either in progress or not yet required at our current scale of processing — email info@sparecarpart.com for the current status. You can raise a complaint with the ICO at any time via ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
