Q-registration
Also known as: Q plate
Registration mark beginning with Q, issued to vehicles whose age or identity cannot be verified.
The DVLA issues a Q-plate when a vehicle's identity is in doubt — for example, a kit car built from parts of unclear origin, a heavily modified vehicle, or a recovered stolen car whose original VIN was destroyed. A Q-plate is not inherently a sign of fraud, but it does signal that the vehicle's history is incomplete.
