Nominated Tester

Also known as: MOT tester

The individual authorised by the DVSA to carry out MOT inspections at an approved test centre.

A Nominated Tester must hold a full UK driving licence for the appropriate class, have at least four years of relevant repair experience, complete a DVSA-approved training course and pass the demonstration test. Authorisation requires annual training and an annual assessment.

The Authorised Examiner is the business holding the MOT testing licence; the Nominated Tester is the person doing the test.
