London ULEZ Checker
London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)
London's ULEZ is the largest clean air zone in the UK. If your car doesn't meet Euro 4 (petrol) or Euro 6 (diesel) standards, you pay £12.50 every day you drive inside the North and South Circular boundary. Enter your registration and we'll tell you instantly, using the same DVLA fuel-type and date-of-first-registration data TfL relies on.

London ULEZ questions
How do I check if my car is ULEZ compliant in London?+
Enter your registration into the ULEZ checker above. We pull your fuel type and date of first registration from DVLA and compare them against Euro 4 (petrol/hybrid) or Euro 6 (diesel) thresholds. Most petrol cars registered after 2006 and diesels after September 2015 are compliant.
How much is the London ULEZ daily charge?+
£12.50 per day for non-compliant cars, vans and motorbikes. HGVs, coaches and lorries pay £100 per day under the separate Low Emission Zone (LEZ). The charge runs 00:00 to 23:59, so crossing midnight counts as two days.
Where does the London ULEZ apply?+
Every London borough, all the way out to the Greater London boundary, 24 hours a day, every day of the year except Christmas Day. There is no inner-only zone any more — the boundary expanded in August 2023.
What happens if I don't pay the ULEZ charge?+
TfL issues a Penalty Charge Notice of £180, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days. The PCN sits on the keeper's record, not the driver's licence — check our HPI report if you're buying a used car with previous London keepers.
